TV Review - Hart of Dixie

New Yorker and new doctor Zoe Hart accepts an offer from a stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, to work in his medical practice in Bluebell, Alabama. She arrives to find he has died and left half the practice to her in his will.

This is a great TV show, very cute, very Gilmore Girls. Currently in it’s second season, Miss Zoe Hart has seen her fair share of love, heart break, town fairs, weddings, high teas, medical emergencies and all other things country and small townesque.

If you enjoyed Gilmore Girls and the like, check it out!

Movie Review - Looper

I wanted to see this movie when it came out and never got around to it and I’m just annoyed it took me so long because this movie is great!

In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented - but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” - a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) - is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.

Pay attention kids because this movie is a tad complicated with both present and future Joe’s running around in present day trying to off each other and get their own lives back…but they’re the same people?! So confusing!

The order this movie is shown in is done very well, between past, present and future Joe’s life.

This is a definite must but like me, perhaps Google some explanations after to clear up a few questions you might have.

Movie Review - Django Unchained

WOW! This movie is fantastic! I loved it! Quentin Tarantino has done it again!

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago. Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave.

This movie had me laughing out loud, gasping in surprise and cheering for the good guys. This is a Tarantino movie to the tee! From the camera angles, long takes, wide shots and most importantly all of the fight scenes, blood and gore and shooting.

The partnership between Django and Schultz was brilliant, Foxx and Waltz did a great job! I could’ve watched them go about their bounty hunting business was another 3 films, the chemistry was just amazing.

This is a definite must see!

Movie Review - Salmon Fishing in the Yemem

This movie always intrigued me but I never got around to seeing it in theatres, thank goodness for DVDS. I can honestly say this movie really surprised me with it’s beauty, simplicity and message of hope.

When Britain’s leading fisheries expert (Ewan McGregor) is approached by a consultant (Emily Blunt) to help realize a sheikh’s (Amr Waked) vision of bringing the sport of fly-fishing to the desert, he immediately thinks the project is both absurd and unachievable. But when the Prime Minister’s overzealous press secretary (Kristin Scott Thomas) latches on to it as a “good will” story, this unlikely team will put it all on the line and embark on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible.

This is the perfect movie was a rainy afternoon lounging about at home. It’s quite slow and the characters take a while to get used to and click to one another. But persevere and you will be rewarded.

Movie Review - This is 40

Writer/director/producer Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Funny People) brings audiences This Is 40, an original comedy that expands upon the story of Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) from the blockbuster hit Knocked Up as we see first-hand how they are dealing with their current state of life.

This movie is extremely funny and nothing but honest! Caught up in the day to day lives of a married middle aged couple with two daughters struggling to remember how their lives turned into early nights staying in, hormonal teenagers and inquisitive minds asking about everything!

This movie will definitely have you laughing out loud but also give you a big wake up call as to what lies ahead for most married couples.

Movie Review - The Impossible

I watched this movie the other week and was absolutely moved by the whole film especially the performances of Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland who play wife, husband and one of their sons.

The film tells the real life story of a tourist family in Thailand caught in the destruction and chaotic aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Being a true story really drove the film and ensured audiences were invested from the get go and swept away (excuse the pun) throughout the entire film with the family, struggling in these dire circumstances.

Maria (Naomi Watts), Henry (Ewan McGregor) and their three sons, Lucas, Thomas and Simon, begin their winter vacation in Thailand, looking forward to a few days in tropical paradise. But on the morning of December 26th, as the family relaxes around the pool after their Christmas festivities the night before, a terrifying roar rises up from the center of the earth. As Maria freezes in fear, a huge wall of black water races across the hotel grounds toward her.

The focus quickly moves to Maria and her battle to stay alive in the raging waters scattered with debris. When Maria discovers her eldest son Lucas, audiences are once again thrust into the life or death situation these two helpless people are stuck in.

The film follows Maria and Lucas’ battle of survival and the aftermath of one of the worst tsunamis the world has seen in a number of years. The cinematography of this movie was incredible! The replication of the tsunami and it’s destruction and despair was amazing!

I won’t give away the ending in regards to whether or not the family are reunited or if everyone survives, you’ll just have to go watch it for yourself.

Definitely one to check out!

Seven books, seven seasons – that’s the hope for Game of Thrones producer Frank Doelger. The HBO series based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire has its sights set on seven seasons, which would match the number of planned entries in the book series.

The third season was the first half of book three, season four will be the second part of book three… George R.R. Martin has written books four and five; six and seven are pending,” Seven seasons would create a potentially awkward timeline for Game of Thrones: Season Three and Season Four split the series’ third novel, A Storm of Swords, into two parts, meaning one future season might have to pack in two books’ worth of material to make the fit.

As Hollywood.com points out, Yeezy was seen filming scenes for the motion picture in downtown Atlanta earlier this week. Cast Update Of ‘American Horror Story: Coven

Ryan Murphy continues to lure a top-name cast to FX anthology American Horror Story. The showrunner took to his Twitter feed early Sunday to announce that Angela Bassett and Patti LuPone would be joining the cast of the witch-themed third cycle, dubbed American Horror Story: Coven. “Two legends are joining the cast of American Horror Story: Coven — Oscar nominee Angela Bassett and Tony winner Patti LuPone!” he wrote.
Details are again being kept under wraps on who just everyone would be playing … The duo joins recently announced Gabourey Sidibe, Kathy Bates and returning players Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy and Lily Rabe in Coven, which will bow in October.
